ROUTED IN NATURE: REFRESHING MY BRAND
When I first established Kurtis Shayne Studio in 2022, my vision was simple yet purposeful—create meaningful design that helps local Fraser Valley businesses tell their stories authentically. Two years later, it's time to refresh that vision while staying true to what inspired it all from the beginning: the stunning natural landscape that surrounds us.

RECONNECTING & DISCONNECTING
This brand refresh isn't just about updating visuals; it's about reconnecting with the core of why I do what I do. As a designer based in the Fraser Valley, I've always found that my best work emerges when I'm honest about what drives me creatively—our region's breathtaking environments, from towering forests to serene lakeshores.
GRAPHIC DESIGN SHOULDN’T BE HARD TO FIND.
My design philosophy has always centred around accessibility. I believe exceptional design shouldn't be reserved for major corporations with massive budgets. The small businesses that make our communities special deserve thoughtful branding that captures their spirit just as much as any national chain. We as a community grow together, nourish one another and inspire change.
My portfolio has grown to include a range of services:
- Brand identity development
- Logo design and visual systems
- Print and digital collateral
- Social media assets
- Marketing materials
But underlying all these services is a commitment to businesses that might otherwise feel priced out of professional design. Whether it's a new coffee shop in Abbotsford, an independent outfitter in Chilliwack, or a family-run farm in Langley, these are the clients who inspire me most.
This photo on top of Sumas Mountain features lush forest, pale colours, and a subject “the path leading to the mountains”.
What I see is the trees that are the subject framing the distant mountains. The way the path guides the eye to a focal point.
OUR ENVIRONMENT INFLUENCES OUR IDEAS.
The expanded illustration above represents everything this refresh embodies. What began as a simple photograph on a hike transformed into something that tells a deeper story about both my brand and our region. Had I not decided to go on a hike that day, I would have never seen this perspective. Had I not gone on that hike, the designer in me would have missed the voice telling me to “Illustrate this!”.
The Fraser Valley gives us endless gifts as designers.
- The ever-changing forests, teaching us light, and shadows
- Wildlife that reminds us of our place within a larger ecosystem
- Dramatic mountain landscapes that teach us about scale and perspective
These natural elements aren't just scenic backdrops—they're design lessons. The way sunlight filters through trees creates natural patterns. How water reflects the shoreline demonstrates perfect symmetry. Even the organic shapes of mountain ranges show us how to create visual flow.

4. Establishing myself as the accessible alternative to larger agencies for businesses
For businesses throughout the Fraser Valley, I offer design that's as rooted in this place as you are. Together, we can create visual identities that don't just look professional but feel authentically connected to what makes our region special.
